Sigur Ros – Ágætis Byrjun

Ágætis Byrjun

Ágætis Byrjun was the second album from Sigur Ros and their critical and commercial breakthrough release. Presented as a UK import 2 LP on 150 gram vinyl (with MP3 dowload), Ágætis Byrjun represented a substantial departure from the band’s previous album Von, with that album’s Cocteau Twins-esque dream pop and extended ambient soundscapes replaced by Jónsi Birgisson’s now signature cello-bowed guitarwork and lush orchestration (using a double string octet amongst other orchestral elements). Rolling Stone ranked Ágætis Byrjun the 29th best album of the 2000s. “Sigur Rós conjured magic with drones, using strings, brass, electronics and guitars that took Jimmy Page’s bowing technique to new heights.” – Rolling Stone. “Sigur Ros effortlessly make music that is massive, glacial, and sparse. they are hidden people. children will be conceived, wrists will be slashed, scars will be healed, and tears will be wrenched by this group. they are the first vital band of the 21st century.” – Pitchfork

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds  – Tender Prey

Tender Prey

2015 Heavy-Weight 180 Gram vinyl reissue with download. Fourteen classic Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds albums have been made available for the first time on heavyweight 180g vinyl. Each album has been re-mastered (overseen by Mick Harvey, former Bad Seed and founder member), and all album artwork reflects the original release from the cover to the printed inner sleeves. Originally released on the 19th September 1988, recorded in Berlin, London and Melbourne and produced by the band. Tender Prey kicks off with ‘The Mercy Seat’ — a song whose critical stature as a masterpiece was all the more heightened when Johnny Cash covered it on his American Songs III album in 2000. Tender Prey also features a song that has become a live staple, ‘Deanna’.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds – Let Love In

Let Love In

2015 Heavy-Weight 180 Gram vinyl reissue with download. Fourteen classic Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds albums have been made available for the first time on heavyweight 180g vinyl. Each album has been re-mastered (overseen by Mick Harvey, former Bad Seed and founder member), and all album artwork reflects the original release from the cover to the printed inner sleeves. Originally released on the 18th April 1994 and produced by Tony Cohen, much of the power of Let Love In lies in the mesmerizing intensity of its songs. The sinister and explosive ‘Red Right Hand’ has been covered by everyone from Arctic Monkeys to PJ Harvey, and the song has featured many soundtracks including the Scream trilogy and more recently the opening and closing music to Peaky Blinders.

That’s all folks.
