Recent Arrival New Vinyl Releases Dec 15 2017

Blade Runner 2049 – SoundtrackBlade Runner 2049 – Soundtrack

The soundtrack highlights the entrancing, ethereal, and enigmatic original score composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer [Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King] and Golden Globe & Emmy nominee Benjamin Wallfisch [It, Hidden Figures, Annabelle: Creation]. Original and classic compositions round out this sci-fi noir masterpiece. Finally, the album concludes with an original song by a Grammy  Award nominee. Over a backdrop of cyber-infused soul production, it delivers a hypnotic and haunting performance.

Together, Zimmer and Wallfisch sought to continue the incredible musical legacy of the original 1982 Blade Runner by Vangelis, while imparting a piece of themselves upon the score. In order to do so, they implemented vintage synths such as “the star of the score” a Yamaha CS80 from the late seventies as well as modern technological innovations, yielding a rich sonic palette wholly cognizant of this world and the vision of director Denis Villeneuve.

Gord Downie - Introduce YerselfGord Downie – Introduce Yerself

The music was recorded swiftly over two four-day sessions in January 2016 and February 2017, with the final album often reflecting first takes.
Introduce Yerself continues the collaborative relationship that last year brought the music of Downie’s historic Secret Path to life, with Drew producing the album and co-writing a number of the new songs.

Tyler, the Creator – Flower BoyTyler, the Creator – Flower Boy

Flower Boy is the fourth studio album by American rapper Tyler, the Creator. Although the album’s production was handled entirely by Tyler, the Creator himself, it features guest vocals from a range of artists, including Frank Ocean, ASAP Rocky, Anna of the North, Lil Wayne, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Estelle, Jaden Smith and Rex Orange County.
The album was supported by four singles: “Who Dat Boy” / “911”, “Boredom”, “I Ain’t Got Time!” and “See You Again”. Flower Boy received widespread acclaim from critics and debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, selling 70,000 copies in its first week in the United States. The album received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.

Björk - UtopiaBjörk – Utopia

Björk is a rare artist – a true original, a non-conformist with wide appeal, an extraordinary genre-busting musical individual who speaks to the heart, the head and the feet. She is the quintessential modern musician, ceaselessly innovating, and completely multi-dimensional in the way she uses performance, technology, fashion, video and art to complement her music.
Utopia is written by Björk with five of the 14 songs co-written by Arca and one of the songs co-written by Sarah Hopkins. Björk formed a twelve piece Icelandic female flute orchestra, which she arranged for and conducted. She also wrote an arrangement for Hamrahlíðarkórinn, a choir conducted by Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir.
