New Releases – Rob Zombie Re-issues – HUGE Amount of Restocks and Jazz

It’s Friday! We’ve got some great new releases this week from Wye Oakes, Sloan, Czarface & MF Doom and Dr. Octagon’s latest are all in stock now! We also have in a few of the Rob Zombie re-issues along with Astrocreep 2000 Live that just got released. Need more music for the weekend? Sloan – 12
That title isn’t just some random number. 12 is indeed the 12th album from Canadian power-pop perennials Sloan, which means it’s as good as Led Zeppelin IV, Black Sabbath’s Vol. 4, and Chicago 4 all put together. But seriously: not only are Sloan the rare band to make it to their 12th record, and not only are Sloan the rare band to make it to their 12th record with all four original members, and not only are Sloan the rare band to make it to their 12th album with four original members who are equally prolific songwriters, they’re arguably the only band to make it to their 12th album with four original members who are both equally prolific songwriters and all still working at the top of their respective games, sounding utterly ageless in the process. On 12, each of the four principals contribute three stellar songs that play to their core strengths: Patrick Pentland with the soaring rock anthems, Chris Murphy with the playful, participatory sing-alongs, Jay Ferguson with the jaunty prog-pop gems, and Andrew Scott with the whimsical innerspace explorations. Says Murphy, “I guess with the album title, we are showing off the fact the we have 12 records.”

Wye Oak – The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs
For The Louder I Call, The Faster It Runs, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack flew to one another’s cities—she in Durham, North Carolina, he in Marfa, Texas—for a week or so at a time, hunkering in home studios to sort through and combine their separate song sketches. These shorter stints together produced less second-guessing and hesitation in their process, yielding an unabashed and unapologetic Wye Oak. They discarded past rules about how to write a record, instead funneling all those experiences and experiments into perfectly unified statements.

The result is the biggest, broadest, boldest music Wye Oak has ever made. Louder pursues a litany of modern malaises, each of its dozen tracks diligently addressing a new conflict and pinning it against walls of sound, with the song’s subject and shape inextricably and ingeniously linked. It arrives at a time of immense doubt, when our personal problems are infinitely compounded by a world that seems in existential peril. But these songs answer the challenge by radiating self-reflection and resolve, wielding hooks and musical intricacy as a shield against the madness of the moment.

Czarface & MF Doom – Czarface Meets Metal Face
Rising from the wreckage of a war torn planet, Czarface joins forces with MF DOOM in the epic Czarface Meets Metal Face! Blending DOOM’s trademark abstractions and CZARFACE’s in-your-face lyrical attack, this album is ripe with cartoon violence, societal observations and pop culture musings. Over banging beats provided by The Czar-Keys, the armored team give you the witty unpredictable treats any hip-hop fan can sink their fangs into.

Expect beats, rhymes, and metal as Czarface controlled by WU-TANG CLAN powerhouse Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric team up with everyone’s favorite villain, MF DOOM. With track titles like “Nautical Depth”,”Meddle With Metal”, “Astral Traveling” to “Madness of Badness” this album packs a punch with 16 brand new tracks. Add that with features from Open Mike Eagle and Jedi Mind Tricks’ Vinnie Paz, we promise you mind-bending metaphors and brain-melting beats.

Dr. Octagon – Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation
After 22 years, the visionary trio of Kool Keith, Dan the Automator, and DJ Qbert have reunited for Moosebumps: an exploration into modern day horripilation. Out April 6th via Dan the Automator’s Bulk Recordings, Moosebumps is the much-anticipated sequel to Dr. Octagonecologyst .

Largely recorded during marathon, 24-hour sessions at Automator’s studio, Moosebumps has a palpable urgency. When Kool Keith reprises his role as the lecherous Dr. Octagon, it sounds as though he’s been speeding through the cosmos since ‘96 and recording every noteworthy enterprise. Whether rapping alongside frequent Automator collaborator Del the Funky Homosapien (“3030 Meets the Doc Pt. 1”) or alone, Keith expands the Dr. Octagon mythos, utilizing his timeless, off-kilter cadences to relay everything from Octagon’s shameless branding (“Octagon Octagon”) to his kinkiest shenanigans. In short, Moosebumps finds the same incorrigible Octagon in improved and more outlandish garb.

Rob Zombie Re-issues and Astro Creep:2000 Live

Hellbilly Deluxe
Tying together three of his major loves – classic horror films, hard rock and electronic music – Rob Zombie created and released his debut solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe, in August 1998. Featuring his iconic hits ‘Dragula’, ‘Living Dead Girl’ and ‘Superbeast’, Hellbilly Deluxe cemented Rob Zombie as a hugely successful solo artist with over three million album sales and his first Top 5 album chart position in the Billboard 200.

The Sinister Urge
Focusing on his love of horror and suspense, Rob Zombie named his second studio album The Sinister Urge after the 1961 film of the same name, directed by Ed Wood. Featuring his third Top 20 Mainstream Rock single, ‘Demon Speeding’, as well as metal juggernauts Ozzy Osbourne (guest vocals on ‘Iron Head’) and Slayer’s Kerry King (additional guitars on ‘Dead Girl Superstar’), plus a flurry of other notable guest musicians, this album has achieved platinum sales status as well as garnering Rob Zombie his second Top 10 album chart in the Billboard 200.

Astro Creep 2000: Live Songs Of Love; Destruction And Other Synthetic Delusions Of The Electric Head
In addition to the studio albums, there’s a new release Astro-Creep: 2000 Live. Astro-Creep: 2000 was the final studio album by White Zombie and on this live collection is performed front-to-back by Rob Zombie for the first time ever. Featuring ‘Electric Head, Pt.2 (The Ecstasy)’, ‘More Human Than Human’ and ‘Super-Charger Heaven’, this is a stunning take on a fan-favourite album.
