Record Store Day 2016 at Backbeat – The 411

The day has come once again – it’s Record Store Day this Saturday April 16th and we want you to come hang out with us. We have lots planned for the day and you can find out all the details below. To us, everyday is “Record Store Day”, but to have one day to highlight what we do and bring attention to independent stores like ours is a great thing. We hope to see you on Saturday, it’s going to be a fun day!

Don’t know what Record Store Day is all about? Here’s a primer:
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.

This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists—to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.

We are super excited to have Brad Sucks doing an in store set at 3:00pm. How can 19000+ Facebook fans be wrong? Brad Sucks is one heck of musician and one of our favourites, so we are truly honoured to be able to have him here. After hitting up Backbeat, Brad is on his way to Kingston for a show at The Mansion with our friend Ali McCormick.
