The Struts’ and Eminem’s latest have arrived on vinyl. Plus, This Mortal Coil reissues.

Only 2 more weeks left of 2018 and there are still some solid releases coming out. Here are all the details on the latest from Eminem and The Struts, then check out the details on the This Mortal Coil reissues that just came out. You can all stop asking for my personal copies now. After that there’s a huge list of restocks and additions to our new record selection here at Backbeat.

Let’s get to it!

Eminem – Kamikaze
Kamikaze feels like 2002 again—Eminem blowing off steam and blowing up the high road, rapping angry, yet in total control. On “Not Alike,” he teams up with his old right-hand man Royce da 5’9″ to clown Auto-Tuned rappers over a trap beat reminiscent of BlocBoy JB’s Drake-featuring hit “Look Alive.” “Greatest” is a prime Shady flex, brushing off disses like crumbs (Die Antwoord gets roasted). As usual, relationships aren’t spared his rage; “Nice Guy” is a salty he said/she said featuring rising R&B star Jessie Reyez.

The Struts – Young and Dangerous
On their sophomore album, Young and Dangerous, British sensations The Struts let loose with the sing-along-ready and riff-heavy sound they’ve brought to stadiums and arenas all around the world, adorning that sound with deeper grooves and inventive textures, dreaming up a majestic glam-rock masterpiece that’s unabashedly fun but full of pure heart. Following 2016’s critically acclaimed Everybody Wants, it features the current hit single, “Body Talks,” as well as “Primadonna Like Me,” plus a bonus version of “Body Talks” feat. Kesha. “We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into this album and I know you are all going to love it,” says lead singer Luke Spiller. “This is dedicated to all of our amazing fans who have waited so long for this record. I hope these songs provide the perfect soundtrack to this crazy thing called life.”

This Mortal Coil
It’ll End In Tears (1984)
Filigree & Shadow (1986)
Blood (1991)

Over the span of eight years he, along with Blackwing Studios house engineer/ co-producer, John Fryer, and a rotating cast of musicians, created original works, musical links and reinterpretations of impeccably curated songs; introducing a new audience to the talents of a previous generation including Big Star, Tim Buckley, Roy Harper, Spirit, Gene Clark, Dino Valenti, Rain Parade, Emmylou Harris, Syd Barrett and Colin Newman, amongst others.

The new deluxe vinyl versions differ from the original releases with each album having had its artwork reimagined by Ivo Watts-Russell and Vaughan Oliver (4AD’s long-time visual partner). All three are now presented in beautiful, hand finished and high-gloss gatefold sleeves, using remastered audio made from the original analogue studio tapes by the late, great John Dent.
