The music world has lost a number of bright lights in the past week or two and for today’s A Nice Pair, we’re honouring Robbie Robertson by pairing his book Testimony with the album Stage Fright by The Band.
Testimony is a memoir by Robbie Robertson that covers his musical journey from his childhood on the Six Nations Indian Reserve to his collaborations with artists like Ronnie Hawkins, Bob Dylan, and Martin Scorsese. Testimony is a story of friendship, creativity, and music history, told in Robertson’s own voice.
Stage Fright is the third album by The Band, which was released after their first two widely acclaimed albums. The album received mixed reviews, but still made it to No. 5 on the Billboard chart, the highest position for any Band album. The album is different from their previous work in that it’s more confessional and personal, and nearly all of the songs were penned by Robbie Robertson.
