We’re back today with our book and vinyl pairing that we like to call A Nice Pair…this week features Madonna, aka The Material Girl, The Queen of Reinvention, The Queen of Pop and sometimes Madge.
We like our quirky books here at Backbeat and this week’s book choice isn’t a typical biography or musician memoir. It’s an obscure little book called “I Dream of Madonna: Women’s Dreams of the Goddess of Pop”, edited by Kay Turner. It’s just as the title suggests, it details the dreams of fifty women’s dreams about Madonna and their subconscious worlds of imagination.
We’re pairing the book with another rarity, “Madonna: The First Album”. This picture disc, released as part of Record Store Day 2018, is a reissue of a rare 1983 Japanese 8-track Picture Disc LP of Madonna’s first album. Faithfully replicated with original lilac card insert, fold-out page Japanese biography/lyric insert and clear PVC outer with the pink heart-shaped obi-sticker featuring the original Japanese text. Limited to a worldwide run of 14,000, we’ve got a copy here waiting for you!
