Sunday means it’s time for A Nice Pair – book and vinyl pairings that share a common theme. This week, we’ve got one for the kids and/or the young at heart. We’re pairing A Boy Named Charlie Brown, the book by Charles M. Schulz, with the album of the same name by the Vince Guaraldi Trio.
The book follows Charlie Brown as he prepares to compete in a national spelling bee in New York City. Alongside him are his quirky group of friends including bossy Lucy, her blanket-toting little brother Linus, and, of course, his pet beagle Snoopy. The story captures the ups and downs of Charlie Brown’s journey and encapsulates perseverance, friendship, and the humorous challenges of childhood. It’s showcases Schulz’s signature blend of humor and poignant storytelling.
The album is a beloved jazz soundtrack originally released in 1964. It contains music composed for the Peanuts TV specials, including iconic tracks like Linus and Lucy and Charlie Brown Theme. This particular edition is a special Baseball Card Edition and includes a set of eight baseball cards featuring the Peanuts characters. It features all analog mastering from the original stereo tapes at Cohearant Audio.
