A Nice Pair: Al Green

It’s the last Sunday in April and it’s time for A Nice Pair – vinyl and book pairings that go together like Perth and delicious maple syrup hangovers. Today we’re pairing the book The Music Never Stops by Peter Shapiro with the album Al Green’s Greatest Hits.

The Music Never Stops is another fascinating behind-the-scenes memoir. Shapiro, a legendary concert promoter, shares stories from his career, including his work with iconic venues and artists like the Grateful Dead, U2, Bob Dylan. He tells his story through the lens of fifty iconic concerts.

Peter Shapiro once stood in front of Al Green’s limo to persuade him to reshoot a performance with the Dave Matthews Band. Originally released in 1975, Al Green’s Greatest Hits features some of his most iconic soul tracks, including Let’s Stay Together, Tired of Being Alone, and Call Me (Come Back Home).
