It’s Sunday and we’re back with A Nice Pair. Today we’re pairing the book From Here to the Great Unknown by Lisa Marie Presley with Elvis Presley’s self-titled album.
When Lisa Marie Presley suddenly died while in the middle of writing her memoir, her daughter, Riley Keough, listened to the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book and shared the extraordinary stories within them to help complete the book. From Lisa Marie’s childhood at Graceland through her experiences with fame, motherhood and ever-present grief, From Here to the Great Unknown offers an intimate look at the Presley legacy through a unique, deeply personal lens.
We’re pairing the book with the reissue of Elvis Presley’s self-titled debut album. Before he became a father to Lisa Marie, Elvis was well established as the King of Rock ‘n Roll. This album spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart in 1956, the first rock and roll album ever to make it to the top of the charts and the first million-selling album of that genre. It features hits such as Blue Suede Shoes and I Got a Woman.
