It’s Sunday which means it’s time for A Nice Pair – our weekly series where we match up music-based books and records. Today we’re pairing the book Not Dead & Not for Sale by Scott Weiland with the Stone Temple Pilots’ self-titled limited edition album.

Unfortunately, Scott Weiland passed away in December 2015, but his memoir dives into his wild life as the legendary frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver. It’s a raw look at how he managed to dominate the charts while battling heavy addiction and legal troubles. It focuses on his relentless drive to reinvent himself and his resilience as both a creative artist and a father who constantly fought to stay relevant and creative.

Stone Temple Pilots’ self-titled sixth studio album showcases the band’s enduring ability to craft compelling rock anthems and Rhino Records celebrated its 15th anniversary with this limited edition in 2025 as part of its Rocktober series. It features tracks like Between the Lines and Take a Load Off.
