Movies are born of great storytelling which is why so many great movies’ first incarnations were as books. So many classics, fiction, non-fiction, thrillers and children’s stories have been translated from the page onto the screen, though it’s usually debatable which is the better format.
This year, a few books pictured above are going to be transformed into film – Thank You For Your Service (David Finkel), The Shack (William P. Young) and The Breadwinner (Deborah Ellis). Other notable books-to-film this year are The Circle (Dave Eggers), The Dinner (Herman Koch), Wonder (RJ Palacio), The Lost City of Z (David Grann) and Before I Fall (Lauren Oliver), just to name a few. We recommend you read them first, of course!
