Great selection, Well priced, and good quality of vinyl!

Books & music. What more could one ask for? The especially great thing about this place is that it is curated properly. Of course they have all the usual suspects on vinyl- the Beasties, Bowie and the Hip- but other lesser known gems as well like Car Seat Headrest and Jason Isbell and all the genres including jazz, rock, indie, soul and rn'b. There are high quality turntables, record sleeves and vinyl travel cases, used cds, used 45"s, lp's and cassettes (blanks & classics). The second half of the store is done up in a similar fashion- new, used, classics, kids, y/a and book related stuff like journals and cards. Although the description of the book section is shorter it is still just as awesome as the music side. I left with 4 books and no vinyl. That's unusual for me but a true testament to the excellence that is Backbeat. Oh, and dude is very knowledgeable and nice and was playing the Stone Roses debut. It may not be gigantic but there is always something that makes u stop and say, "aw man, i gotta have that." What more could one ask for in a book/record store? Nuthin'.

Wow. I cannot believe how incredible the customer service is here. The amount of help and guidance I received here was beyond expected. Their prices are unbeatable and the staff really know their stuff. Beats all record stores in Ottawa. You have a new regular, thank you.
