In honour of Global Beatles Day, today we’re pairing the album Revolver with Fab: An Intimate Life of Paul McCartney by Howard Sounes.
Global Beatles Day, celebrated yearly on June 25th, was founded in 2009 and is “a day honoring and celebrating the phenomenon and ideals of the Beatles, collectively and individually, for their gifts to the world including, but not limited to, their promotion of peace and love, of truth and youth, and of the expansion of human consciousness.” It takes place on June 25th because that’s the anniversary of the broadcast of a British program , Our World, that was aired globally via live satellite. It ended with the Beatles’ performance of “All You Need Is Love.”
All You Need is Love is featured on The Magical Mystery Tour album, which we sold right before making this post(!), so in the meantime, we’re pairing it with Revolver, one of The Beatles’ best-selling albums of all time.
Fab is an extensive biography that covers Paul McCartney’s childhood, through his heyday with The Beatles, right up until recent years when the book came out. It paints a comprehensive picture of not only his time with The Beatles, but the many years on either side so the reader learns not only about the superstar musician but also about the man behind the music.
