Hey there good people! We’ve got lots to dig into today so we will get right to it. We just received in the latest releases from Chvrches, City and Colour and Dead Weather. I’m kicking myself for missing the latest Other Lives which came out earlier in the year, it’s here now (finally) and sounds great, they have made stunning music for more than 10 years, please do yourself a favour and check this album out. Dodge and Burn on Third Man Records features eight brand new songs, along with the four previously released tracks remixed and remastered. Alison Mosshart, Jack White, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence spent their rare and sporadic free moments over the past year recording together in Nashville. With the members of the band heavily involved in other projects, The Dead Weather will not be touring in support of the new album. Thankfully the thick and heavy Dodge and Burn will satisfy your urges for the dark magic that is The Dead Weather for a very long time.

Chvrches – Every Open Eye

Every Open Eye is the second studio album by Scottish synthpop band Chvrches. The group consists of Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals, occasionally synths and samplers), Iain Cook (synths, guitar, bass, vocals) and Martin Doherty (synths, samplers, vocals). Every Open Eye includes the new single Leave A Trace.

Other Lives – Rituals

“In our heads we’re haphazardly trying to write classical music,” says Jesse Tabish, and if you listen with an intent ear to Other Lives’ lush, layered beatific musical creations, it’s hard not to imagine the singer-musical maestro crafting his next opus. “Every sound, every drum beat has to have some sort of purpose,” he adds. 13 years since they first began playing together in their native Oklahoma, Other Lives, which includes Josh Onstott and Jonathon Mooney, remain focused on the search for audible clarity: their next expression, their next melody, their next rhythm. Rituals, the band’s third and latest full-length album, is a pure encapsulation of the trio’s relentless drive for precision. “It’s more dimensional, it’s more 3-D, if you will,” Tabish explains. “We wanted a cleaner, brighter record with more movement and more color.”

We strive to have a diverse and interesting selection of new records to browse through here at Backbeat. It always seems that around this time of year we run out of room for new vinyl in the browser. So what do we do? Take out a whole stack of it, put it in the sale bins and slash the prices. Right now we have 2 crates stuffed full of new vinyl that is on sale at 20-50% off and one crate of new vinyl at $9.95!
